Evening all. I am keen to purchase a PENTAX-F SMC 135mm LENS 1:2.8. Have found a couple on the other place but would prefer to buy here.

Would an FA version be of interested to you ?

I believe the optics are the same but the coatings will be a later development I imagine

Thanks regarding FA. I prefer the F and having a punt on ebay at moment. May get back to you if I don't win it.

No worries - I was considering bidding on that one (as it's local to me) but I'll hold off

The one Pwynnej has linked actually seems to be a fairly good buy - condition looks good and they often go for towards £300. My FA cost a fair bit more than this!

I sold mine on Ebay a few weeks ago and it fetched around the same as the one on Ebay

I think that's a decent asking price tbh.

Thanks to all advice, on having second thoughts (and the fact that I do have a K series 135/3.5) I have cancelled my bid. Mike-P I had seen the eBay £220 one and it was on my watch list. My eyes will cope with manual focus for a while longer I hope. Thanks again. John

Because the F 135/2.8 can do this ...........And because that e-bay price is less than I parted with to get one from a forum member a year ago... .

Have had a thought about this fiasco. Decided I was suffering from a severe case of advanced LBA. After a couple of G & T's (well 4 actually) I am feeling much better thank you. SWMBO has stopped beating me which made me see the errors of my ways. Goodnight all.

Yes its me again, head is fine before you ask. Awoke this morning, cup of tea another look at the listing on Ebay, and then a flash from the past, in the back of my office drawer I remembered I have the Pentax-F 1.7 AF Adapter, sure enough I have it. attached it to the my K/135/3.5, works perfectly, entered 250 when camera asked for focal length, works perfectly, now for question could I also add HD - DA 1.4 AF REAR CONVERTER in tandem, or use it on its own.

Glad to hear your head is still in good condition. Due to years of practice with G & T's?

You could, it will work OK on its own (that's what it's designed for...) and should work in tandem with the 1.7. But there would be compromises when using in tandem: 2+ stops slower (1 from the 1.4, 1+ from the 1.7), more glass reduces image quality etc.. The only way to find out whether tandem works well enough for you is to try it. Go on, you know you want to!
