lens stuck...

hey guys, the other day i was looking through my garage and i came across my stepdads old k1000. I went to walgreens and got some film, and was ready to shoot, but want to change the lens to the stock lens (a vivitar series 1 70-210 lens is currently attached) i am pressing the lens releas button and turning the lens but it doesnt seem to want to move. any suggestions? im afraid to spray wd-40 all over my great new toy, but i cant figure out why it wont come off.

i live near mexico and there isnt a specialist or even a camera store for that matter for miles.

Without seeing the camera or even a picture of it, it is difficult ot give positive advice. However, whatever you do, do not use WD40!! This is designed to spread and will get in all sorts of places you definately don't want it. Are you sure you are using the right button to release the lens. Before using it with film, I would try a few basic tests. Open the back and see id the shutter seems to run smoothley at all speeds. Put the camera on B, set the lens wide open, open the back. Press and hold the shutter and look through the lens. Does everything appear clear. If it has been stored in the garage, the damp may have got to it. Is there any fungus? If so, the lens could have started to corrode which is what is locking it. Try a very small amout of oil aaplied with a thin piece of wire around the lens mount and leave it overnight. If the lens now comes off, carefully clean away the traces of oil. If this still fails try to get some digital images of the lens mount area so I can see if I can spot anything.
