lens prices

Jon, I can't see the dilemma. You'd be making a profit but that's nothing to be ashamed of. You'd still be offering it at a good price & in good condition.

I wouldn't package the 2 together for a sale as I don't think you'd get the going price then. It's unlikely you'll find 2 bidders who really want both lenses, so you'll attract bidders who'll want to sell the lesser value lens onwards & as such will factor in the loss on postage & fees etc.

Mike, mine didn't include a pouch when I bought it brand new. But I can't say if there should be one or not.

Ah ok thanks.
Its just that I recently bought a 55-300mm off here used and it came with a Pentax pouch which I found suprising considering the 12-24mm didnt even though it was a lot more expensive.
Or is it not included with the 55-300mm and I was just lucky?

I think that only the DA* lenses come with a soft pouch.

The only DA lens that I've bought which came witth a case was also the 55-300, which was surprising as other than the two kit lenses, this is the cheapest I've bought.

Re. the 12-24 vs the 17-70, while the latter is good it's not quite as good as the former IMO, which is an amazing lens.

Just out of interest did you get a pouch with yours or do you know if one is supposed to be included?
I do not think they come with one. None was included in the box.

The 12-24 is amazing. I think it produces some stunning results and thats what has prompted me to go for the 17-70 thinking it will be as good and nearly cover the range of 2 lenses, but giving me the coverage I use.

Does anyone on here have one and are local to Donington Park/East Midlands Airport and willing to let me try it out.

You are correct - it did.

I had forgotten that I keep one of my 'kit' lenses in it

You would think that the DA 12-24 would come with a pouch, given its price, but it is clearly listed as an optional accessory.

I have not got the LBA just yet (fingers crossed) but I have been looking at some lens prices and they have rocketed. Just looking at what I have in my collection and current prices on SRS

Tamron 28-75 2.8 bought in September brand new for £250. Going for £350

Sigma 10-20 bought second hand in March 2008 on ebay (6 months old) for £200, Going for £389

Tamron 18-250 bought brand new in October 2007 from US for $450 (~£250) now going for £335

What is going on with the market. The Pentax lenses don't seem to be affected though.
IIRC Apr08 1GBP~200YEN, now 1GBP~145YEN --> price rise!

FWIW I can't see the yen staying this high forever - it's not good for their export based economy.

True. But with that reasoning shouldn't the pentax prices have gone up as well?

Well considering I got £166 for a Pentax K 300mm f4 with a small chip in the glass I would have to say yes.
I have a M42 mount Vivitar 90mm f2.8 macro lens on Ebay atm and its up to £132 without all the final bidding .. I tried to sell it on the USA Pentax forum 6 months ago and couldn't get £60 for it.
