You LMS guys just can't seem to get over the Gresley A4's being the most beautiful locos ever built and at the same time the fastest !
Still, us LNER guys are quite thick skinned and we can take it !
All the best, don't blow your boilers !

Don't know much about different locomotives, so I imagine it must be really impressive to see a working example of a Gresley A3, it being twice the size of the A4.

The image has gone, so do you want to put it back in place Cliff, or shall I remove the thread? The thread makes little sense without the image?
Best regards, John

It may still be in your cache, but it's not there any longer when I look. The link also fails.

Just tried it on a device where it couldn't possibly have been in the cache, and the image is indeed missing.

Very odd. Shows up fine on my mobile phone, which I've never used before to access PU, and on my main PC, which has never been pointed at this thread. It's also there on my netbook, where it could very well be in the cache. It's a riddle.

Server cacheing by internet providers is the explanation. Depends on who you are with. All ISP's do it to speed things up. I find it very difficult testing updated web pages because of this, regardless of device used if off the same ISP.

Now I did mention in the gallery that I thought the A4 pacific engines sounded a bit tinny compared to the wonderful Stanier locomotives we had on the LMS.
This has prompted a response from David (David Trout a staunch LNER man) who has given a full explanation as to why the eastern locos sound like they do and indeed has educated me a little.
Looking at the images I had taken I noticed something written in very small letters at the bottom of the cab on the A4, On zooming in I couldn't believe what I was seeing. (see attached image)
David, a little more explaining please
