Lazy man's website generator?

Lasy July I decided I wanted a website and a blog, and so one Sunday afternoon I produced both of these.

For the website I wanted one that was easy to create new galleries, so I used the website generator Pages from TheTurningGate, and I use this with one of the Lightroom gallery generators. So now when I select bunch of images and do a Web export the gallery gets generated, uploaded, and through the magic of PHP it even generates the thuumbnail and link on the Gallery Index page of my website, simples!!
Even though it's that easy I still have hardly any galleries on my website, but that's my problem

Now my website is pretty plain and simple, and I would like to upgrade it to something a bit snazzier, but still with the 'one button' simplicity of generating new galleries from Lightroom.

Advice and suggestions most welcome.

Unfortunately the only thing I can recommend is my web designer. There isn't anything wrong with your existing site, still easy to navigate and has some amazing photos.

I guess it depends whether you want to spend any or much money.

Thanks for the suggestion Dan, I was wondering if anybody was going to reply, I suppose not many people on here generate websites.

I only do this for fun so wouldn't really want to spend any money on a website - I'd rather spend it on models

Thanks for the comments on my website and images. Until earlier today the gallery thumbnails were quite small, but I found that by editing one of the XML files I could get a bigger thumbnail which has helped. Also for some reason the menu bar is in the centre on every page, except the gallery pages where it's on the right!! I'll have another dig into the XML files as they seem to drive everything. Also the galleries are in alphabetic order, not the order I uploaded them. All minor things really which I suppose other people don't notice.

You have a great website, but as a pro it has to be your shop window so you need to spend money on it and get it right. You have some great images on your website, and I especially like Sun Explosion in your PPG gallery.

Well I'll carry on tweaking and see how it goes.

And thanks Stefan, those look quite interesting as well as various other tools on the Photographers Toolbox website. They seem to be similar to what I am using but with a bit more customisation.

I had saved the links for myself when i came across them, they look promising but never had the time to try them out.
If you do try them out let me know if they are good or not.

Gallery is popular, and has themes and stuff, and although I've never used them there are Lightroom plugins to export directly to it. Gallery also features plugins, notably ecommerce ones. You might need help with the initial setup though, unless you have a host that offers to install it for you.

I recommend trying out ZenPhoto. I used to be a web developer too, but when when Web 2.0 came out I became outdated.

I used to code designs in tables, CSS and all its hacks were just too much for me. Oh wait, I think I became a father. Yup, that did it. LOL

ZenPhoto is pretty interesting, you just upload photos via FTP, sort them by folders and sub folders and it automatically sets up the galleries like that. After which you can add descriptions to it within the site.

I'm actually using it now to create my gallery although it is a work in progress and am contemplating of removing or adding more stuff to it.

then you need to look up "Automator" on your mac.
Also Iphoto and Aperture, combined with mobile me.
you'd be amazed how much you can "Automate" with "Automator"....
