I use a K-x, and would like to purchase a dedicated strobe. Back in my film days, I owned and used a pair of Vivitar 283s, even had the bounce card attachment. I've not read entirely positive comments about the Pentax strobes, so I'd like to know what others are using.

I use the small AF200fg. Useful in party environments, which is where I need it sometimes, otherwise I use fast primes and rarely flash. The used price of the 360 and 540 or their Samsung equivalents has come down a bit and they are usefully more powerful. There are also good guns from Metz, Sigma and Nissin which are even more cost effective. Your choice depends on your needs.

The 540fgz, the previous generation model that is still available new, is great value and offers plenty of advantages, including Auto-flash mode for exposure control using older lenses, full P-TTL with modern autofocus lenses, and full manual with power settings from 1/1 down to 1/64th.

Plus it offers all the bounce positions, catch-light panel and wide angle panel. It had high speed sync mode(on camera), plus out camera wireless control, and the pop-up flash on the camera will work as the'trigger' to fire the gun wirelessly .... It comes with a little bad to stand up on itself

What's happened to the edit option? This week play havoc with my spelling on a smartphone! I meant to say above it comes with a BASE to stand on. All in all the 540fgz offers an amazing amount, plenty to grey started with and plenty to learn about for the future!

I have asked IT to look into the Edit function to see what has happened.
Best regards, John
