What like this you mean?

Orly had a 3 second go at it - LR4 73% Luminance noise reduction - more time and care would probably improve further

Hi Derek - when it comes to noise reduction and sharpening - you should always head straight for LR - nothing better IMHO.Hi Carl. Thats brilliant. I have lr 4 as well but hardly use it. Heading on to it now. Thanks again Carl

Noise has gone but the definition has suffered badly; this is often the consequence of applying Noise Reduction. Best option is to avoid noise in the first place, I know that's not always easy but it should be the objective, especially with shots like this one.

Agreed - but I wouldn't take my half baked attempt at it seriously. I think putting the original in to LR and doing all the pp work there will significantly improve the shotNoise has gone but the definition has suffered badly; this is often the consequence of applying Noise Reduction. Hi guys thanks for the input. I was using a deglassed 2x converter with a Dxenon 100mm macro. Manual mode as no contaxts on 2x. Also no af, out of about 20 shots this one was the only one under exposed to this extent, not sure what i hit to cause the adjustment, But hey ho its what i have. And i would like to have a decent copy of it to allow me to do a decent sized print if i want. I have tried this in lr, but i do not know how to use it

I use Dfine (one of the Nik plug-ins) to reduce noise, and, while I haven't tried it on this image and only use in on Raw images, I don't think it removes as much detail as in this example. (I don't use Lightroom at all)
