When I shoot under tungsten light with white balance set on auto, it doesn't change to tungsten light, it seems to default to daylight.
Am I missing something here?:
Many thanks in advance.

Tungsten light lies outside the range of AWB. You need to set the Tungsten preset.

AWB simply corrects the coloour temperature based on integrating to a grey point, but that can mean the character of the light can be removed. I tend to use Daylight as my setting, to retain the natural colour of the light. The exceptions would be Tungsten and Fluorescent where these need to be set to give a reasonable colour to the light.
Best regards, John
