K-X Trash button (and .Trash folder)
Strange, when deleting an image in my K20D the space is immediately freed up (number of remaining images increases by one).

Image files on a card are no different to files on your hard drive. DELETE doesn't actually do what it says - just changes the file in such away as to allow it to be over written and thus freeing up spare space. Which why you can recover 'deleted' files.

Quick question - I noticed when deleting a photo using the camera's 'Trash' button (in an attempt to free up space) the image disappeared but the number of shots remaining didn't change.
When connecting the camera via USB to my PC I notice a hidden .Trash directory which stores my 'trashed' photos. I have to manually remove this using the PC before the storage space is reclaimed.
I've looked for settings in the K-X menu to alter this behaviour but can't see anything.
I'm fairly certain this is ocurring on the camera itself and is not related to my desktop OS (which incidentally is Linux).
Any advice?
Thanks,
Steve
