Got my Km from Currys and , now they have it back after 5 months,
Haven't got a great deal of faith in Currys.
Here's what its doing , Won't AF and yes is set to AF , if it does work the focus is off.
Deleted all the pictures on the card by it's self.
sitting on the table switched on the flash popped and then went off several times.
Can't check the sensor for dust .
And again it's only 5 months old,
Voodoo camera

Quite a voodoo camera Paul, first time hearing that.
Hopefully they repair it better then you think.

Pictures look good, I am guessing the camera performed like it should have this time.

Could you not have demanded a replacement rather than a repair? I thought that that was the law.
I would never have expected to defend Curry's but when I bought a large flatscreen TV from them a couple of years ago it broke down after 6 months, I went in and told them I had lost the receipt, they checked my details on the computer and let me take any TV in the store with cash difference either way. Six months on the prices had all dropped so i got a better telly and £300 cash back.

This is a very useful guide to the Sales of Goods Act.
It's from the traders POV, rather then the typical web info, so will give a more realistic idea of what the retailer will do.

The flow chart on page 8 in particular is useful.

Hi Currys said, As they no longer support Pentax they were duty bound to try and repair the camera, so they replaced the main board, they said if they couldn't repair within 20 day's they would refund me, the price I paid or discount me on a Canon, or Nikon camera, they would have exchanged it for another KM, or discounted me on a K20d to the price they paid for them if they had any,and take off what the KM cost me, so I feel they were trying hard to replace it.It went to a place Barnsley to be repaired, and it came back as good if not better than it was,to start with, plus they gave me 1 years warranty on the workmanship and parts, so all in all I feel very happy with the out come, I feel curry's did their best in an arkward situation, Pentax on the other hand didn't want to know , they said take it back to where you bought it from,as since i bought it from Currys I entered a contract with them.
Every thing is working well, and it does seem to AF very quickly now, oh ,part of my receipt said the camera had been fully service to Pentax standard, and fully setup.
Paul,
ps Thanks for taking the time in replying.

Which is, actually, the correct legal position. As someone who works in the service industry, I'm constantly amazed by the differences in reactions to people. Some people, when told that the agreed service route is with the manufacturer, go nuts and point out their contract is with the retailer. Yes, it is, and the retailer has a contract with the manfacturer that says to refer to the manufacturer for repairs.

On the other hand, some people refuse to accept being told that we'll be repairing the item, and insist on talking to the manufacturer...

Ah well...

At the end of the day, you buy an item from a retailer, your contract is with them. If it becomes faulty, you should contact them. Theymay have different Service Level Contracts with different manufacturers, but that isn't your concern, as such. If you contact a manufacturer directly, it's up to them if they decide to help, or refer to retailer, and often, that decision is guided by Service Level Contracts.

Welcome to the wonderful world of consumer support, where quite often you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I must say currys in Peterborough, I found really helpful, I didn't have a lot of faith in them in the begining, because their so huge, however after dealing with them I've had a 360 degree turn around, and I would certainly buy from them again, since I've had it back they have rang up to make sure everything is OK,so I can't fault them in any way,or maybe I'm lucky I have a good Currys !!!!!
Merry Christmas, thank you for replying.

Glad to hear it mate

A lot depends on who you've got working at the retailer, sounds like you had a crew that cared.
