Thought I'd post this, as I'm going to Sunderland Airshow today, and never been to one before so might come back with rubbish

That one looks like it's short of some tucker.Another good capture though.

Great shot Alan but as Don says - not the healthiest looking kingfisher.

Good luck at the show - wish I could have made it today to meet up with you. Oh well - hoping to get work out the way and make it tomorrow.

Yes, very impressive.

On a natural history point in the first shot. Do Kingfishers have short tongues or is it the birds stance? It looks odd in relation to the beak.

Great shots!
I notice the local pair I watch are also looking a bit "tatty" at the moment. There again, they have raised 2 broods this summer so I am not surprised they look a bit knackered at the moment!

They do have very short tongues Barrie. I expect its less to get punctured by stickleback spines
