A good, sharp image. Plenty of detail and the result of correct technique.

Best regards

A good sharp image as others have said.

It would have been nice to have photographed it rising, with some foreground to show it is a super moon. Ah well try again next month .

Excellent and thanks for giving the settings details. Am I right in thinking you need to stop down a bit, like you have here to f8.0, in order to get the whole moon sharp? I think there's a super moon coming 2nd week of August, so I hope to have a go than . Thanks for showing this great image.

I suspect it's more a matter of the best aperture for the lens. most lenses perform best 1-2 stops from fully open. DOF is certainly not an issue.

Would this image look basically the same shot at f4.0 then? You'd get a faster shutter speed as well which might help I guess.

thanks for all the comments, the f8 was because the lens is better stopped down a bit from what i have read, have not used it enough to prove or disprove, just set that then tweaked iso and shutter to lower the exposure to get something i could work with, af in live view using the edge of the moon against the sky for it to have something to lock on. it is surprising how fast the moon is moving when you are faffing about altering settings though.
we live in the hills and with my view of it there was nothing i could put in front of it unfortunately, apparently if you can it makes it appear larger.

My attempts went straight in the trash bin! As has been said, giving the settings etc was an excellent idea. This may help with my next attempts!
Best moon shot I have seen in a while.
