Kimmeridge, Purbeck

The deep rocky bay at Kimmeridge is characterised by its eroding slate cliffs, with a rich black tone that gives the place a foreboding atmosphere. The high hill on the northern head hosts the dominating Clavell Tower, visible from far around.

I visited one evening during August. All images with the K7, gripped ... the wider ones are with the SMC A28mm f2.8, and there is one long telephoto shot with the Tamron AF70-300 Di LD ....

The first photo is first class. Outstanding composition and the colours are just right

Yes, I like the first one in particular, Nigel. Lovely soft light and real sense of depth in all of them.
Best wishes,

Andrew

just been to Weymouth and tried to find Kimmeridge, saw one signpost then no more so did not get there but good to see what i missed, thanks Nigel.
i like all the images but my favourite is 5 , for me it is the best balanced image and allows me to go from front to back and take everything in on the way, the foregrounds on some of the others i find a bit too dominant and stop me actually going on into the image because it is taking so much of my attention
odd lens or 2

First and last one for me but only from a compositional point of view. They are all very good.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

some very nice images there - #1 is wonderful - composition, colours , just a lovely shot.

#2 for my tastes cropped in waaay too close - looks and feels claustrophobic for my tastes.

#3 also I'd have liked to have seen a little more space all round.

Strong set of images - much to like

Joe, next time its worth going the extra bit on a day when there's some light .... its a bleak place though when its grey. The little lanes around the area are a delight and its all so off the beaten track. We come in from Corfe Castle which is a beautiful route, and there's a high ridge past Kimmeridge leading towards Lulworth Castle which gives great views.

Thanks for the kind comments also David, Alan , Bill. Mike and Nigel ... I'm really pleased you all saw the photos and thanks for the encouraging responses.

Hi Nigel,

Having recently invested in a K5-ii, I took it to Kimmeridge for its initial outing. I didn't have the stunning lighting that you did, however. Lovely images.
