Kestrel Chicks

I make no claim that these are of any real photographic value but I thought the birders here might find some interest. When I have an opportunity like this I wish oh wish I had a more suitable lens than the 55-300. It's been fine for dragonflies etc but whenever I take a picture of a bird I'm left wanting.

First Image is with cheap 2X tele converter which I guess explains the fringing, other two are at 300mm. All are cropped a fair bit.

I think the chicks will have flown by the time I can return to this spot in three months but any advice how to improve technique with the kit I have would be appreciated

Technique, schmechnique. Baby birds, what's not to like.

great pictures I used to see Kestrels every day but find them a rare sight now, while Buzzards have gone the other way.
I love the first picture showing the baby feathers still on their heads
