I'm a sky lover so the 3rd doesn't float my boat.

The 1st is my favourite. You have an interesting subject but it makes it for me with the sun about to show itself from behind those great clouds.

That bit of tree to the top right detracts, but a minor issue. Like one of those annoying people that tries to get in on someone elses picture haha.

The second is a fairly uneventful view but made more interesting by those random clouds, both in the sky and casting shadows on the scenery.

Nice to enjoy a little sunshine in our green and pleasant land. Thanks for sharing

I bet the first two would be cracking in mono too.

Thanks for looking and the comments Steve. In #2 the shadowss were changing all the time although the clouds appeared almost stationary. #3 was taken using the 55-300mm as a "let's see what it looks like£ snap"

These are all good, sharp and well exposed shots Stan. I agree with Gravelrash's comments on the first one, it would be better if the overhanging branches were not in shot, but the rest of the image makes up for it.

The second and third are not quite as eyecatching, but very nice nonetheless. As you might know, I often use my 55-300 to isolate parts of a landscape and I find it great for this type of shot. I do like the leading line in the third one that lets the eye meander towards the distant house.

Thanks for the comments David, I did think of you when I used the 55-300mm I'll have to see if I have one of the "Bride" without the additional foliage, at the time I took it I was still out of breath from the climb and just plopped my bum down on a flat piece of grass

An attempt to convert #2

It has a greater impact for me but as, everyone is sick of hearing, I have a genetic preference for Mono.

Do me a favour Stan and do a square crop of the first so you get all of the left side but just clip out the offending tree. Convert it to mono and increase the contrast slightly.

I think you may be pleasantly surprised. Worst that could happen is you make a picture I would love haha

The Hole of Horcum is notoriously difficult to get a decent photo of - one of those places that looks spectacular standing there but often does not translate well in an image. You have done it justice.
