sigma 150-500 all the time

Check these out, they were taken on a K-5iis with the DA*300, some were admittedly taken wit the Sigma 70-200 but you should be able to tell the difference by the displayed exif.
You won't regret it.

The DA 300* on a K5 is rather a good match. Like Neil though I tend to hang a Sigma 150-500. There`s no way on this planet though that the 300 could be pried away from my collection.
I love the Sigma on the K30 too. Yet to try the 300 on the K30.

Well done Alistair, I'm looking forwards to seeing some output with the K-5. I've now graduated to a IIs, but will keep the K-5 and also my K-x. The K-x still amazes me - it's not a match for the K-5, but what it does for what it cost is incredible.

Couldnt agree more David. If I think the K-x is amazing then it sounds like Im in for a real treat with the 5

Stick with Pentax - easily the best - My first Pentax was the ME Super way back in 1981. It still takes a lovely shot. Currently using K20D and 645D - will never consider anything else other than Pentax with Sigma Lenses. Keep the faith without question Mr Carrot! Happy shooting all.

You will have a real treat when your K5 arrives. What you will still be frustrated at is the lens choice when it comes to Nature / wildlife photography. Good to hear you like Sigma lenses. As that will be your choice..

You have seen my pictures taken with the DA*300 with an older A series x2 Teleconverter - all they need to do is copy that and take the AF through. But why is it taking so long?

A 1.4x converter, which I think is a better choice in terms of potential quality, has been on the lens roadmap for a very long time.
I'd like to see it appear, although I fear it will not be cheap.

I was sooooooooo close to buying a Canon 7D and 400mm 5.6 lens last week with the view to selling my Pentax stuff but have decided to stay faithful to the company.
Some nature photographers recoil in horror or disbelief when I tell them that I take all my bird photographs with the K-x and then they are amazed at the output it generates.
I found the Canon cameras that i tested fiddly and the menus appalling to navigate.
I've ordered a K-5 (bought from another user on this forum) and cant wait to get using it.
Lets hope Pentax respects the many nature photographers out there and they create a proper teleconverter for the DA*300 and lenses considerably cheaper than the 560mm!
