K7 to replace K20 and Video Camera?

Hi,

I am sick of carrying both my K20 and video camera around with me on family trips out. Do you reckon the video capabilities of the K7 would be good enough for short 2 or 3 minute bursts of video of my daughter? So no tricky action shots!! My only concern is no autofocus, but setting on a high f number should sort that, right?

I reckon if I sold both the K20 and video camera, I would be looking at around £300 to pay on the K7.

I use my K20 with a DA* 16-50 at the moment as this fits the type of photos I shoot at the moment.

Thanks, James

There are some very impressive K7 videos on Youtube. Somewhere on here is a link to them.

If your camcorder is not HD, the K7 will almost certainly be significantly better - and don't forget those lovely lenses.

George is right, if you have a good quality HD camcorder the K-7 will be overshadowed a little (it's still not bad mind you). But if you have older std. definition camcorder then the K-7 is much much better. Plus as George says think of the possibilities when you build up your lens collection

Now with regard to autofocus, it's really not such a big deal particularly if you are using a longer lens and stopping down a little. However it can be more challenging if you are using a lens with a much shorter depth of field.
