Oh aye, but even with the Winter cashback from a Pentax dealer you are still looking at a price £200 more than the Argos deal...which has to be below cost.

Argos still seem to be selling them at that price on ebay

Wonder if Argos got it mixed up with the 18-55mm (as I did!). They have that in black for £395, as do SRS (with 2 year guarantee).

Sorry, I made a mistake and have now edited the post. The SRS is with the 18-55mm, not the 18-135mm.

Anyway, I bought one a couple of weeks ago in the Amazon deal.

The possibility that someone at Argos boobed has passed my mind until you study their ad again and it clearly states the old price and says that this offer price is less than half price..so they must have intended it.

One good thing to emerge from this is that the replacement K60/70 just announced must be an absolute stonker if Pentax are so keen to offload the K50 at almost any price! I haven't seen any model so comprehensively 'dumped' for a very long time.

It's only the white one which can normally only be bought by virgins
I think they overestimated just how many virgins there are

Ref mcpieman's lead, I've just checked on ebay and he's right they are still apparently for sale there, however the delivery date is now 6.5 weeks away..towards the end of Feb...so I don't think i'll bother. By that time if I haven't still got anything I should imagine i'd be able to Hoover one up at a really low price from one of the mainstream dealers desperate to get shut.

Thats the trouble with Argos - you spot a bargain on their site but there's never any in stock!

I bought my first dslr, a KR with 18-55 kit lens from argos for £279 when it was on one of these offers.

Its worth checking if there is a "Clearance Bargains" (argos clearance shop) store near where you live (i think there is only 4 in the country though) as, if they are reduced in argos and on the argos ebay store, they will be in there, on the shelf. The nearest one in the north east is in Stanley, Co. Durham, and i have had some unbelievable bargains in there.

Hope this helps.

Simon.

I'm not sure I'd buy high tech products like this from general retailers. If there's a problem the backup can be dire, although I've not tried it via Argos to be fair to them. I did have a laptop that needed return to Currys and they trashed it whilst it was with them.
Best regards, John

Agree John. It would be unrealistic to expect to get the same quality service from Argos as you'd get from a specialist seller like SRS. These 'bargains' can be very tempting, but you're taking a gamble that you won't be requiring support down the line.

I've dealt with Argos and currys, Let's just say that I will NEVER deal with the latter again, (letters from CAB and threats of court action against them for faulty products).
Argos on the other hand were very obliging when I had to exchange something.

Michael
