K5 won't turn on

My K5 now won't turn on at all. Had the 50-135 on, turned on the camera, battery empty indicator flashed straight away and camera shut down. Have charged battery and put a different lens on, camera now won't turn on at all, not even a flicker.

Is there anything I can try to get it going? Obviously I've already taken the battery out, have tried 2 batteries, same result. Not feeling too cheerful right at the moment.

Are you sure your charger is working ok?

have you tried with no lens fitted, if it comes on go into menu and do a reset. just a thought. had virtually the same thing with my K5 when i had one, it recovered but i would not trust it again and bought another camera.

Have tried with no lens fitted, have tried with an old SMC-A, tried taking memory card out, nothing. Have now noticed there is a faint red light flashing in the viewfinder. As certain as I can be it's not batteries, think something must have gone wrong when I put the 50-135 back together, didn't realise I could bugger up the camera too.

Pretty much resigned to a big repair bill, any recommendations? Have already contacted Johnson's, Harrow Technical and Asahiphoto.

It's a long shot given the circumstances but have you tried cleaning the power contacts in the camera (where the battery connects) ?
