K5 sr

I love the camera ...but i really really miss the sr switch,it's a pain having to go through the menu system...does anyone know a way to quickly access this....

Cant you just switch it off using the info/arrow buttons rather than trawl through the menus?

I never turn mine off so dont miss it at all but I hate not having a bracketing button (I know you can prog one but its not the same) and I also don't understand why there is no direct video recording button

It is off if you use a remote or the self timer (or bulb). If you set it to infra red remote you can still use the shutter button on the camera but the SR is off.

the reason is that i now have a lens with its own stabiliser which i think works better,so switch it off for that lens and on again for the others...would be much easier with a switch

I agree with the OP. It is the one thing that I prefer on my K20D to my K-5. The Instant SR switch was a boon when you are constantly taking the camera on and off the tripod as I was today with the K-5. Having to go through the menus is a pain.

I've never had a problem with frequent on and off tripod use. I always use the 2 second timer when shooting on a tripod which auto disables the SR.

this. The SR is also seriously good ... I'll be testing video seriously tomorrow.

I'm going to stick my two-penneth in here,
I love the fact the K5 has no SR switch, having personally known three people who had an SR switch break (two on K10 one on GX10) I have handled my SR switches with kid gloves since

I would be quite happy if they could get rid of the AF 3 way switch as well and just put a button. I presume it has to be there in some guise because of the linkage.

Sort of takes away the persona of a K10 being a tough, rugged camera. Could even be used as rumour fuel (couldn't fix a switch so put it in software).

I've not had any issue to date with the SR switch on my K10 as I just don't use the SR function. I also don't have it actuated on the K7.

This post is particulaly apposite, as yesterday I went out with my K10 and an old Tokina 70-210 lens. I had the ISO set on 100 all day and snapped merrily away. Sometime, whilst putting the camera in or out of the bag, I managed to turn off SR and didn't notice. The difference between the two sets (before and after) was most marked in terms of sharpness.

I'll be double-checking it's on in the future. Wish the control was buried in the memory like the K5! I guess you can't please everyone.
