K5 prices

A colleague has just returned from Tokyo and found the K5 price out there - he was buying some cheap Nikon!

The K5 will be available at Yen139,800 for the body only. But that includes tax at 5%. A UK visitor can purchase a camera without "consumption tax" which would mean Yen133,000 which is around £980.

However, the store gives loyalty points which can be used immediately for purchases of lenses, cases, memory cards &c and they equate to 10% of the original purchase. The second purchase also gains points which are used against a smaller item &c &c.

This brings the body only price down to around Yen119,700 or £850


Add 17.5% VAT to the price and it is £999


With 18-55 WR Yen154,800 £1170 reducing to £1000 (+VAT >>> £1180)

With 18-135 WR Yen £189,800 £1430 reducing to £1225 (+VAT >>> £1440)

Jacobs is taking preorders for the K-5 body only at £999 which is the cheapest I have seen in the UK.

$1599.99 cdn at Henry's Cameras, (body only) the k-r is listing $849- at Henry's and Vistec....

I guess it'll be $1399.99 by Christmas, maybe there will be good lens bundled kits.... it's a little pricy compared to the Nikon......retailers will be reluctant to drop that price till they unload thier remaining k-7's

Don, does that include tax?

So, prices seem similar, Japan, UK, Canada ...

tax is extra in cdn pricing... amount varies in some provinces...
