K5 over exposing

Has anyone noticed a tendency for the K5 to overexpose in bright sunlight?

I thought I got a perfect shot of a Reed Bunting today, histogram looked great, the image on the screen looked great too, but when I got it home and onto the PC the image is clearly overexposed by a couple of stops, and not just that particular shot, I had quite a few others too. fortunately I got a very nice Robin and Tree Sparrow.

Time I started shooting RAW methinks.

Can't you set Highlight and Shadow warning on the Histogram display on the LCD?

Why only taking one "good" shot? take multiple

I'd err towards underexposure, too, as that will be easier to save in PP.

haven't really done bright sunlight much yet. I did go out and do some drive by shooting this afternoon though and it was bright in places. Still copying the files onto the computer. I'll look out for over exposing.

My K20D underexposes and it was refreshing to see exposure better on the K-5

My K10D, K20D and K7 all underexposed. The K5 has seemed to nail it spot on so far. Just means I've needed to change my workflow altering photos... lol.

Expose to the left! The K-5 can take a lot of exposure correction in PP.

Can't wait to get one... which I will... circa 2012...

Just checked the camera, it was set to +.5EV, though as I said the shots were at least a couple of stops over, obviously the extra half stop has pushed them over the top.

Oh well, lesson learned, I'll get to know the camera eventually, but I've just changed it to RAW+jpeg to be on the safe side

Be prepared for lots of upcoming questions on RAW guys

I know why I didn't realise Exp Comp was set.

The K10/20D both show the exp.comp. symbol but also display the bar graph indicating the amount, the K5 doesn't, at least not while the electronic level is operating, it just displays the symbol, if no exp. Comp. is set the symbol is not displayed (on any of the bodies)

I must have changed it while trying to find the ISO button with gloved fingers, and I even did that whilst forgetting I was in TAv mode
