Having opened the box of my K5. Having spent many moments reading the manual, it took me 5mins to put the strap on!!! Well now charge the battery, how long to charge? I am sure the auto settings will be forever. I would like to thank all the comments on this forum regarding the K5 they have been a great help. I now look forward to getting off the starting blocks !!! Happy Christmas

Fantastic start to Christmas!

The one thing I dislike about getting new cameras is fitting the strap....it needs a quick release system like the Rollei TLRs used to have.
Best regards, John

Hmm.. As long as it's not like the quick release that let one of our Spotmatics fall off its strap some years ago! One of the spring clips opened, and the camera landed lens-first on concrete pavement. What made it doubly dreadful whas that it was my wife's Spotmatic, which I happened to be carrying over my shoulder at the time.

Good news was that although the metal lens hood was flattened and the filter cracked, but the lens and camera seemed unharmed and were still working recently. Those old Pentaxes were rugged little things.

I dislike the strap that Pentax ship with their dSLRs nowadays - much too garish. I have recycled an old Olympus strap for my K-x

Merry Christmas to you all.

Congratulations. I picked up mine on Thursday. I charged the battery for an hour and that gave me time to play around with some settings and take a few shots. Full charge took the specified time (six and a half hours).

I think the strap is a bit disappointing, so I'll get something else eventually. However, I'm very pleased with the camera.

Hope you enjoy yours.

Merry Xmas to all.
