K5 cosmetic issues?

I just noticed this week that on my 9-month-old K5 mode selector dial the red X-sync symbol is losing it's red paint. One leg of the 'X' is half silver already Closer inspection also shows the green rectangle icon is also starting to lose it's green paint around the edges.

Anyone else noticing this? Might have to get out the felt-tip pens

I'll bet you've been using it for photography Tim....

I noticed the paint loss on a fairly new second hand camera that passed by, but less so on the K20D style. This is because the new dials are proud and the older ones are recessed I think.
Best regards, John

MMMMmmmmmmm, Hotblack Desiato K-5 (or K-3 please), so totally black and bad for the eyes, light just seems to fall into it, your eyes just fall off it, a totally frictionless coating. Black buttons with little black lights that light up when you press them. (Sorry DA).
Lurking is shirking.!

I can't even remember what my K20D dial looked like. Were the symbols recessed? That was good thinking by Pentax why'd they change it

On further reflection I think if it gets worse I'll gently rub off all of the red and green paint so all of the mode symbols are a uniform silver. I could probably re-sell it in a year or two as some kind of limited edition haha

The paint fading is the camera's way of telling you "I'm yours, but not completely, but you're on your way"
