K3iii Update Astrotracer Type 3

The latest K3iii firmware has added Astrotracer 3 to the camera menu. Reading the information on the Ricoh website:-

it appears that other than for wide angle lenses the O-GPS1 unit is no longer. I have read that you just take an initial calibrating shot.

Has anybody tried this new addition out?
