K3II Battery Drain ?

The batteries in my K3II don't seem to hold their charge very well, even the one in the grip depending on which has priority, these are both genuine Pentax Batteries.

It's not the batteries getting old as they seem OK in the K5, in fact the brandX battery I have which spends most of it's life in the K5 seems to hold it's charge a lot better.

Anyone else had a similar problem?

Sorry, I should make it clear, this is when the camera is not in use and left for a week or two.

I think its the gps that if left operational still runs even if the camera is switched off. When not using the camera, I have taken to turning it off. Hope that helps

Neil, I have dabbled with the astro tracer, it's just a matter of waiting for right time right place to give it another go, was caravanning just outside Penrith a few weeks back, away from light pollution etc, but some idiot forgot to take a tripod

Andy, good thinking, I'll turn it off and just switch on if I need it see how that goes.

That's what I do too. Used to leave it on but it does drain.

Well so far so good, GPS turned off and the batteries are still going strong, over the weekend as well as a a few dozen images I shot 15 minutes of video, going to leave the camera in the bag for a week and see what they're like then.

Sorry to disappoint but it wasn't all in one go

Oh that doesn't bother me at all. I shoot short clips, and then stitch them altogether. eg here.

Just happy to see Pentax users using their tools in this way too.

I take it that was for a party.

Mine were shot at a gig and I was far too close to the stage (and speakers) have tried all sorts with the audio and can't get rid of a crackle/buzz, presumably caused by the effect of the bass, have looked at the audio file in spectral mode and have a cartload of vertical lines through the files wherever the buzz is, unless I find a way to clean it up I may as well delete the vids
