I'm not finding it brilliant and wonder if there is a camera fault. Using either half shutter push or back button focus it tracks (not brilliantly) for approximately 5-10 secs and then just stops refocusing. If I release and repress I then get a confirmation bleep and it starts tracking again for another short but not exactly the same interval. Behaves the same with DA*300, DAL 55-300 and Sigma 150-500. There are no confirmation beeps during tracking (should there be?). All else seems fine.

Dave
After reading reviews i think that`s as good as the continuous focus is.

Maybe - but others are reporting more success than that with birds in flight etc. on other forums.

Have you updated the firmware to 1.02? I have noticed a difference.

If my Sigma 150-500 OS misses focus it grinds back and forth through the focus range again till focus is achieved, once focused I have not had a problem keeping it there with AF.C and selc 2 (9 points).

I think the secret is to keep the target within the focus sensor pattern selected.
Cheers
Brian.
LBA is good for you, a Lens a day helps you work, rest and play.

Yes, have updated. In fact don't know if it was doing this locking before I updated because I hadn't extensively tested it before. It tracks for a while then just stops focusing till you release button and press again. I don't think that is right?

Every Pentax body I have had did that ... including the K-5II I have now.
I thought it was a lot better on the K-3.

Well I thought that might have been the case with my previous bodies but not really critically looked at it before so maybe that's just going to be the way it is!
