I have the 60-250 F4 and also use it for sport. I have seen it said that it is slow focusing, but I have never had a problem. The image quality is fantastic as you can see from the images.
K30, K-x, *ist DL. Pentax 60-250 F4, Sigma 18-125 & 70-300

I have to agree I'd don't find the AF on the 60-250mm that slow (no different to DA*300mm), I have the Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 HSM which is slightly faster AF but I wouldn't say the 60-250mm is bad and can cope with rugby and football with no problems.

I recently took my K3 to the zoo to try it out at a more leisurely pace and was quite amazed at how sharp the 60-250mm is when not used at the extremes.
