K20D file names

I have now taken just over 10,000 shots with my K20D saving the raw files as _IGP0001, etc. On reaching 10000 the 10,000th image this was saved as _IGP0001 rather than as expected as _IGP10000.

Can anyone confirm that as I suspect one cannot have a file number greater than _IGP9999, please? Or is there a way round it other than as I do renumbering?

Digressing, I can't ever imagine having taken 10000 images in 17 months using film, let alone the 3500 I took in China in three weeks!

Thanks,

Jonathan

Yes you're right so don't worry

I'm around 20 images average a day
Luckily I don't use film

On the K20D you can change the file naming. I suggest you change the P in _IGPnnnn to a 1. When it clocks over again, change it to a 2, etc., etc.

Peter, good idea, thank you. I'll try something like that, but is there any significance to "_IGP" as part of the file name?

Stefan, looks like my average is about 19 a day. I have also shot some film in this period - there is nothing like the thrill of seeing a beautifully exposed transparency!

"IGP" can be changed to anything you like. I assume it just stands for "ImaGe Pentax" or something like that.

The leading "_" indicates AdobeRGB mode.
