Hi All,
Anyone had problems with a K20D failing to write to a SD card?

Mine has done this on two occasions now with different cards (and Make) both SDHC often in mid shooting or when I try and review the images. Some times they are there and it wont let me zoom in in play back mode.

All cards have been formatted in camera!

Any clues?

Have you checked the Pentax website to see if the make of card you are using is one recommended?

Sometimes there are incompatibilities. Fuji cameras were particularly off in this respect.

If it was the fact that the card was unsupported, how come its worked fine for the first month... and writes some images and not others?

Looks like a phone call to Pentax support for advice I think

I am trying it with supported cards, but it is so random its hard to create the problem

What make of card is it?

Some cards have higher failure rates than others, and/or more bad sectors. Perhaps the card is faulty.

Its a batch of 4GB Kingston SDHC and happening on different cards brought from different places.

I also have a new PC and wondering if the vista OS is causing the problem on card removal

I even had one struggle to re-format in the camera and currently trying my Sandisk SD ones to see if it does it to them, but the PC is the only new edition to my workflow and the problem has arisen at around that time.

I am not ready to blame Pentax yet

I can't see that Vista is to blame. I use Vista all the time and have had no such problems.
I do however always use the safely remove hardware option when removing my SD card from the reader.

SD cards can behave oddly. I had one that would not format in my K10D. It formatted in Sue's just fine and thereafter was OK with my camera as well.

Mine's Vista and ok, never use safely remove hardware option, the only thing I do before removing any card is close the window first..
Never had a bad S/D or C/F since moving to digital some 5+ years now..
