The SR system makes sound when you tilt the camera, that is correct.
There is allso a orientation sensor which detects if you are holding the camera horizontal or vertical.

Sounds about right to me, mine does it and seem to remember my K100D Super clunking as well.
Think of it like I do my old car, don't mind it making a few noises at least I know its working

Phew! What a relief, I suppose the camera must have always made the noise, but with lens on and intent on getting a good shot, I probably didn't notice. Needless to say once I had noticed the movement, alarm bells started ringing and confidence in the camera started to wane.
Very many thanks for your responses, my mind has been put at rest.

Glad you feel a bit more settled again now, wonder how a loss of confidence would show up in the quality of photos
I suspect it would, so many things are affected by how we feel with equipment and tools
Remember a similar thread either here or on another photography message board, might save Pentax time and money if they mentioned it in the manual.

wish I'd asked this question myself - I spent a year worrying about my K100d clunking. In fact one of the first things when my new camera arrived (thanks Tel ) was to rotate it around listening for clunking! sad I know, but true

However, about three or four weeks ago I checked the sensor for dust and it was indicating that it needed a clean. After raising the mirror and removing the lens, I turned the camera to face downward prior to applying a puff of air and in so doing noticed a small clunk within the camera body that I had never noticed before. I continued my cleaning of the sensor and after assembling the camera checked its operation which appeared fine. The problem is, I was now fixated by this small clunk or movement within the camera body I could feel if the camera was rotated about its axis vertically or horizontally. I was so concerned I sent the camera which is under warranty to Pentax for repair. I was later contacted by the service technician who asked me to clarify the problem and I did so. He then stated that they could find nothing wrong with the camera and they suggested that it might be the Shake Reduction system I was feeling. The camera apparently had a calibration check and was then sent back to me.
My question (some might say, At last!) is whether this feeling and sound of movement is normal and if not, can you advise what I should do now given that the Pentax repair agents have returned the camera to me stating all is as normal. I should add that the camera functions perfectly well as is, but my concern is that once out of warranty should this apparent fault get worse I will not be able to afford an expensive repair.
Apologies for my first post being a long winded affair but the only camera shop near me is Jessops and when i went in today with the camera to get advice they were absolutely useless, very very nice, but useless.
