K200D Battery Compartment

The other day I got my K200D out of its case and all the batteries fell out. The little lugs holding the compartment closed have broken off. It is in warrantee so sent it to the offical repair people and they say I 'misused it' and it will be £117 to fix it. Anyone heard of weak battery compartment lugs as I have not dropped it, bounced it or anything. It is in prestine condition other than the fault. Any advice gratefully recieved....

Never had that problem. I would ask them what evidence they have that you 'misused' it.
