K10D Shutter Button

Pentax make their shutter releases very sensitive.
Once you are used to it, it's no problem. However, a friend of mine who uses Canon 20D and 30D cameras is always surprised when he tries my K10D that it fires with no effort.
Maybe Pentax designers have delicate fingers and Canon expect you to be "butch"

I had the same thoughts when I upgraded from DS to K10D.
It is normal, as I found out when I posted the same question. I found it very odd at first not feeling the assurance of that first click, but you will get used to it very quickly.

I wondered about that at first also but soon got used to it. I have fired off a few shots inadvertently waiting for the click.
For someone new to digital you have almost come full circle Canon, Nikon, Olympus and now Pentax. Leaving the best till last i see

yup, caught me out the first couple of times as my DL2 has a 2 stage button, but it's perfectly normal for a K10D. After getting used to it I now much prefer the soft touch approach.
you don't have to be mad to post here
but it does help

Thanks all. I must say I'm very relieved I don't have to send the camera back. I've not found using the shutter a problem on the K10D just unusual and it is going to take a little getting used to, but I'm a happy chappy now I know it's OK. Thanks again everybody.

I think you may just be right saying I've left the best until last. I read reviews but they never really give me a feel for a camera. I'd rather buy the one's I fancy and then decide on what's best for me. I'll probably sell the others. Trouble is, I'm bit of a kleptomaniac.......

Oops That's what you get for watching too many Magpies Thanks for putting me 'straight' Clarky.
Off to the lakes now to 'play' with the K10D
