Cheap K10 or not??

I have been offered a K10 with a pentax 18-55 kit lens and a sigma 100-300 (cheapy lens) for about 350quid. I currently have the K100D and i have been very happy with it but those extra pixels (among other features) sure are tempting. The K10 only has about 1500 shots taken with it so its almost new. I was planning to wait and see if and when pentax release the upgrade to the K10.

So what do you think should i go for it or should i wait : :

If you want it, get it.

All high-tech gear gets cheaper as time goes by, but if you always wait for lower prices you'll spend your life waiting rather than doing.

Your right George and i am a classical example of waiting for the lower price.
The thing is i'm not sure if i do want it or not.
Is the step up from the 100D too the K10 worth it. :
Also i could put the 100D on the market (with the 2 lenses i would get with the K10) and get a good proportion of the money back. I am not sure what i would get for it. I will have to give it some more thought unless you all talk me into it

Maybe i should run a poll

The K10D is quite simply the best camera you can get.

Even if you pay £5,000 for a full-frame Canon, you won't get shake reduction on every lens. All you'll get is a bad back and an overdraft.

But if you don't do much photography, the K100D might be sufficent for you. Only you can say.

I would go for the upgrade if for no other reason than the finder. The K100 has a Pentamirror whereas the K10 has a proper Pentaprism. The difference in view is well worth the extra without the other advantages as well.

Sounds like you just want us to tell you to go ahead and sell the K100D and keep the K10D.

Go on, you know you want to!

Be carefull with some of these obscure online stores you will find most don't even have a store in Australia but ship there items from off shore asian countries like Malaysia. And your warranty is comprimised also.
The ones who preach no pickup available even if you live in the same neighbourhood i find very suspicious.
Go with the ones where you can check thier sales history. If the price appears too good too be true then it probably is

As you say you can recoup some of the money by re-selling the K100, so look on eBay and work out realistically what you could get for it. Then you'll know exactly how much you're going to pay overall for the 'upgrade'. Compare that to high street prices for the two cameras, and if it's less then go for it
Very much an amateur.

Well i am happy to say i purchased the K10d
I havent got my hands on it yet but i will pick it up tomorrow.
So now i have a K100D (in excellent condition) going on the market.
I brought this camera in May (it has about 4000 shots taken)and it was my first SLR camera (digital or otherwise) and it has taken all this time to get my head around it and all. So it looks like i will have to start all over again, (a few more buttons and features on the K10)

Can't wait too post my first pic with it. Wish me luck

Good luck!

Just noticed yet another reduction in the price of the K10D in Jessops (UK). Now, K10D + 18-55 for £480.

In another 12 months, they'll be £380! (I hope.)
