Also im having problems with the cable release,it will only work when i move the plug about,it was fine one day then rubbish the next. The cable release works fine on my DL2 and a friends K100D. Ive had a go at cleaning the socket with a rocket blower to no avail.

And finally...
Link AF Point With AE,it stopped working yesterday, the star that indicates its locked failed to lightup when focus was locked,it worked fine with the AE-L button on the body. I had to completely reset all custom functions to get it working again.

Perhaps the camera is dyeing? Seems very unusual to me.

It looks to me as if you've pushed your nose against the screen too hard, and shorted (squished) the lcd panel behind the screen, judging by the black centre going to white further out..

Don't know about the other problems though, unless the pcb behind the lcd contains the controls for those?

Cheers

I agree - it looks as though the lcd and/or camera has been squashed.

Hahahaha i aint squashed my nose against the screen(surely id if noticed the bleeding!!) Id finished shooting what i was shooting,id checked the screen to be sure i was happy with my shots and was walking to another location when i noticed the fogging behind the screen,id say it lasted 20mins in total and it changed from the full square to the square you see in the pix then slowly disappeared.

for a sealed unit, the moisture must've come from somewhere...
lens change...
battery....
electric contacs at the grip....
broken lcd panel...

most likely cause, i'd guess would be changing lenses after being out in the cold, and comming in where it's warm...once the condensation is in there....it's sealed in...

nah its not squashed its the horriffic distortion of the phone cam

What I wonder is perhaps a 'non-breathing' body may a liability in certain conditions of condensation ?
I tend to keep silica gel bags with all my gear.
May not be useful with the K10 as slight moisture can't be drawn out of the body

Hi bettyswolloks,

IMHO if I had a condensation problem in my K10D, I will do something like this: A valid home intention of condensation elimination is dismounting the lens, put some protection over the lens hole to avoid moisture entrance in the body, but not too close to permit the evaporation from inside the body.

Carefully warm up the body with an incandescent lamp (no more than 20/30 watts).

Watch the body temperature not raise above 35/40 ºC. With the lens hole upwards let the body warm for an hour or two.

When I have this kind of issue with electronics’ devices, do this procedure, and get always good results.

Recommendations:

-Put the lamp down the body, but at a prudent distance to avoid excess warming specific areas (remember blak surfaces absorb easily the heat).

-Be sure the body is in firm and in stable position.

-Check frequently the body temperature (by thermometer or by hand, like the milk feeding bottle of the baby).

-Keep children away.

Hoppe two things; the recipe is good for you, and second, don´t happen to my!

Best regards.

Here's another thing to try:
put your battery in "Hot" off the charger.
use your body cap (with a couple pin holes for ventilation. (or tape a micro fibre clothe over opening to let moisture out while not letting dust in..)
set it in a clean, warm, dry place for a day or two.

Hi

The screen fogged up on my k10d whilst in costa rica. I had been shooting in the rain but nothing heavy and I noticed the screen had some condensation underneath. It came and went, moving around the screen and then finally disappeared. My body temperature against the lcd when taking a picture must have been affecting it and hence the movement.

I did not do anything to the samera and it all seemed to go away the next day. i have not noticed it since but I have not been able to replicate the conditions.

Did you manage to solve the problem bettyswolloks?
