Anyway I have now ordered at a amazing price of £4.99 + postage.

I bought two from 7 Day Shop last year.

Absolutely fine and a truly amazing price.

All this ignores a few points. The NP400 and the Pentax battery are different specs

Could you tell us what those different specs are please?

sorry but I got a minolta spec battery for $39.00 cdn at the same store where the sold pentax spec battery at $99.00 cdn.
the clerc tried to tell me that the camera would report the battery to pentax and void my warranty...so I cancelled a $800.00 order from Don's Photo in Winnipeg and ordered the stuff from Photo Central, in Winnipeg.
Can't stomach a liar.
the battery works fine with the new grip, and even the manfrotto light/boom stands I got from the honest sales clerc.
the only diferences are a few hundred milliseconds of batery life that aren't worth the cost diference.

yes i bought the battery, cause i'm not stupid, but everything else photocentral carried...
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

13. Powerful rechargeable batteries
The K20D features new, large capacity lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, which can capture approximately 740 images***, approximately 50% more compared with conventional one, when fully recharged. Drastic improvement of battery capacity is realized with through energy saving design.

hotshots4u2c ....it also says after the *** that it is a dl150...same as the k10.
the switch from ccd to cmos could gain an easy 50-70% increase in battery life. Also upping the milliamp-hours abit, (just like aa cells), the batery gets a little heavier, and longer charge rating, but is the same size and voltage.
same battery grip as k10 also.

This could also be down to better battery calibration software in the camera (such as is in mobile phones), as well as other 'energy saving design'

The original point was, you can use the batteries you have from your K10D, as they are the same design.

Note: the K20D uses the same grip and battery as the K10D.
It takes far less power because the K20D uses a CMOS sensor, and the K10D uses a CCD sensor

You should be able to buy the Pentax batteries at £45 easily and maybe at £40.

I have now noticed that Amazon are selling the genuine Pentax battery at £32.95
