K10d - Rattling Internals - HELP!!!

Hi all, I have just bought my first digital SLR camera. After reading many reviews decided to get a K10d. It has arrived today, but I think there is a problem with it and I haven't even turned it on yet! The internals seem to shift quite a bit when I rotate the camera from landscape to portrait and vice versa. It is definately in the body and not the lens. It is like something is sliding inside. Should I turn it on and see what happens, return camera/seek specialist advice, or is this just be normal? I want to do the right thing as these cameras take some saving up for! Thanks in advance, Affy.

It's normal - worry not.

Opinions vary as to whether it's the orientation sensor, or the shake reduction mechanism allowing the sensor to move a bit. My guess is the latter, since owners of the K100D, which doesn't have an orientation sensor, report the same noise.

Hi ChrisA, thanks for replying so quickly, I like this forum already! Yes, its a quiet slide then thunk. I am glad to hear this is normal as I thought I may have a defective one! Just one more thing, does it also do this with the camera turned on as mine still does.

Yes, being on or off makes no difference. It's quite normal.
