You say you formatted the old card and then put that back in, but you should always format the card in the camera. If you formatted it in the computer then format is again in the camera.
Other things to try - remove lens, clean contacts with a soft cloth and reseat the lens, making sure it clicks into place.
Otherwise, move quickly in getting it sorted by Pentax. All you can do is tell them it's urgent and why and see what they can do for you.

Hi, yes sorry maybe I did not make it clear, I have changed cards, I have formatted in the camera, I have put a new card in.
I will try the contacts tomorrow (sorry had a glass or two of wine so do not want risk it tonight)
I will call Pentax, but I feel this is gonna cost!
thank you all so much for the help

Tried all the things advised in the manual.
Made sure there was a blank SD card in there
Put new batteries in (just in case)
But nothing. It has not got wet, I have taken the batteries out (for a week until I got some new ones)
Anyone got any ideas please I am getting desperate, we have only used it a few times as we are Holiday snappers not avid photographers, I got this one as it seemed to simple to use! We are going away in a couple of weeks, I do not think Pentax will get it back to us before we go away so want to try everything before I send it off to them, in the hope its something simple and not expensive to fix
