K100D Sensor Clean

Help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a K100D and it is evident from some shots today that it has dust spot or some form of crud on the sensor - slap bang centre! , going on holiday to the US in 2 weeks . Cant afford to waste time sending it for a clean as it may not get back in time ...... whats best to try Dustaid pads on stick , or cleaning with swab and solution provided .... need to order something pronto off the internet

Try a blower first, then a brush if the blower doesn't shift it.

Assuming you've tried the camera's Dust Removal function already.....

For loose particles, try:

1) Blow with large bulb blower.

2) Arctic Butterfly - Google for more info.

Thanks for the info , already tried my rocket blower but it didn't work.

Does the K100D have a dust removal system ?I've tried the mirror
up system to have a look and use my blower .......

K100D Super has Dust Removal (DR) system. K100D does not.

Hi there - hope you got you sensor clean microlight. I've done the blower, Arctic Butterfly but still have a large bit of gunk stuck to my sensor. Gonna go for wet clean using some Eclipse solution but a bit confused as some posts here recommend E2 solution (correct for K10D) whilst on the Photo Solutions website it recommends Eclipse

The Eclipse system works really well for me. I had some terrible stuff stuck to the sensor (pollen?) and two wipes and it was gone. A year later, I haven't had to use it again.

Be careful with Eclipse fluid. You have to get the right one for your sensor or it will ruin it. Try an Arctic Butterfly from Visible Dust before going on to wet cleaning solutions. It is all I use on my Ds and it works just fine.

The Arctic Butterfly is only good for loose stuff.

If you're lucky, breathing on the sensor and gently wiping with a Lenspen SensorKlear (or even a cotton bud, dare I say) will get rid of more stubbon marks. These leave bits of fluff behind - which can be removed with the Arctic Butterfly.

Managed to use swabs and Eclipse cleaner on the K100D from Cameraclean website , thought it had initially done the job ...........but it didn't.

Next attempt Dust Aid sticky pads ... took a few applications but it appears to have done the trick ...fingers crossed

I have the same problem and the Eclipse technique didn't work for me either. It cleaned some loose specs but not the main villain. I guess I will try the Dust Aid method next.

blimey this is more complex than it seems ! Just tried Eclipse fluid too but can't seem to remove 1 speck. Before I go and research/attempt again, is it possible that a speck of dust can get between the sensor glass and the actual sensor ? The bit of dust I can't shift seems below the sensor glass surface...if not I'll try the speckgrabber method - thanks for the info. Unfortunately I'll end up spending as much on cleaning stuff as I did on the camera at this rate !!!!!!!

I can highly recommend the Dust Aid equipment. You need to press on quite firmly and cover the entire sensor a couple of times , but the results are brilliant. Used my K100D yesterday and not a dust spot to be seen
