Absolutely right George but surely they don't have any D's left in stock by now. . . do they? Perhaps they do.
Possibly they cranked out a few more to satisfy the people who want a more pro-spec camera. Of the current models, the D is still the one camera that I'd be happy to use on a paid job.

Hi

The K100D has also been recently been released here in Canada and you may be interested to know that it is selling at London Drugs here for $800 CDN and that includes the 18-55mm kit lens. Add in the 6% GST and that converts to just pennies over 400UK (no pounds symbol on my keyboard and too darn lazy to look up the ascii code) That is the exactly the same price I paid for my DS and kit lens about 18 months ago (without shake reduction) Unlike many of you flush, single malt swilling, upgraders, I will have to remain happy with my DS for a lot of years yet.

Regards

Poor Drew

There's nothing wrong with the *istDS and we'll be keeping ours for as long as they last.

It will take the 10.2 MP to start to tempt us....
Best regards, John

Strewth George, that price includes lens, delivery & VAT too.

Ordered one yet then ? ? ?

I wonder if they have just a body, I don't want the lens.

Cheers for the link,

In a fit of sanity (a rare occurance) I put 2,500 USD into a Certificate of Deposit that comes due in October. This is when I learned, last winter, of the upcoming K10D.

But now I hear rumors that it'll be a consumer camera with all sorts of scene modes and other usless junk. So I guess I put the money back until the rumored K1D comes out.

Unless Penatx decides to make the K10D a pro-featured camera like the *st D. Then I'll be first in line!

Don't be so sure. The sun rises here way before it does on your side of the globe. I'm sure the queue for the K10D will be quite lengthy by then

Even if it does have various 'scene' modes, as long is it retains the features that 'D' owners have come to know and love + a few more, shake reduction perhaps being the most exciting of these, demand will be high, I'm sure.

Personally, I don't think we'll see them in 'proper' camera shops for some considerable time after launch, probably not until early 2007. The mail order supply chain seems to dominate over here.
