I'm glad that you finally found the solution.
Oddly enough, that's the same solution I found for my *istD 2 years ago when a set of 4 cost about £25. They are considerably cheaper now.
I don't have any AA powered cameras any more but Sanyo Eneloops are in all of my flashes and anything else that uses AA or AAA batteries.

Same here. Its reassuring that i can leave my camera fof a while and know it will work when next used. Have 12 now to replace my energiser and fuji rechargeables. Found that thd energiser ones etc lose charge wat too quickly.My partner uses a Panasonic TZ3 Compact (a great little camera) running on a pair of Li-ion cells and it wasn't long before I envied the Li-Ion Cell performance over the NiMH cells.
