K10 file num. ?

Just got myself a K10 ! Luvly !!

first question : can u reset the file number ? can't find anywhere to do that, unlike on my ex K100. Maybe it's fixed so u can see how many operations it's done !? that would be a good idea

Yes, you can reset your image numbering, but not the shutter count.

Select 'Memory' from the 'Rec Mode' menu.
Scroll down using the four way controller to File No and untick it (Off).
Turn off the camera.

The last stored file (image) number has now been reset to 0.

Use the same process again to turn on the Save File No. function.

Pages 199 & 200 of the PDF manual explains it all.

You can do the same with the K20D.

1) Where is the 'Shutter Count' then !? (thought that's what I'd found)

2) The manual says divided into 'folders of 500' ; is that on the SD card ONLY ?

Shutter count is : 5,640, one careful owner from new. Bargain !!

If you've a pef file from the camera it also shows you the manufacturing date.
15038 is my shutter count so yes that seems like a good deal you got there.

15038/2years = 20 photos a day... I never thought I shoot that much

About other software??? that's the only one I know that you need to have and it's free as well.

It works with jpg and dng too ! That's 2000 operations per year he did.

That Internal Ser Num could be handy too !! for insurance purposes ! I've written it down in case it gets nicked !!
