What if you look at the menu via the info button ( SR is bottom right ish ) can you switch it on from there ?

Do you have it set to self timer, because that switches off SR.

Thanks all. I had the drive mode set to remote. All fixed. I remember I was trying to check out some remotes that I hadn't used for a long time and didn't change it back.
All good now. It's good to have some clever friends.

My K1 ii suddenly has decided that the SR won't come on. It comes on on movie setting (Not that I use it) but won't come on on normal stills. In the menu the SR bit (4) it is shaded out so can't access it from there. Using the setting dial on top and the adjustment dial it won't come on. As I said before it comes on for movie setting.
Come you boffins HELP HELP a poor old man with your tech skills.
