k-r remote flash

Hi - so, have been using a Fujifilm s7000 for a while now and have decided to up my game and get a DSLR. I had an ME-Super back in the day, so would really like to purchase Pentax and keep away from the The Big Two. Have flipped between k-5 and k-r, SO many times, but think I'll get the k-r, build out some nice lenses and upgrade to k-5 at some point next year - all well and good.

I'm also really into strobist.com at the mo , and all things "Manual Flash" - so, just wanted to check, are there any issues in using a k-r to fire remote flashes via trigger device e.g. PW , Skyport etc ?? i.e. can you just set the camera for manual flash via the hotshoe and forget using the in-built one ???

If so, what are peoples recommendations in terms of remote triggers ??? If I need to spring for PW's then I will, but are there decent alternatives which the emphasis on reliability as opposed to ebay specials ???

I can't help you out as I'm a bit of a beginner myself, but I'll jump on your band-waggon and ask the same question about the k-x.
