K-r image stabiliation

This may sound like a stupd question but I am not sure if my anti-shake is working on my camera. Should there be a noise when the shake reduction is in operation? Using my nikon d5000 there was a distinctice wurring noise when the shutter was half pressed. Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

The Nikon used in-lens SR whereas your Pentax uses in-body SR that is not particularly noisy. You can of course check if it's working by taking a series of pictures with and without. The difference should be marked enough to confirm one way or the other.

In lens stabilisation (as used by Nikon and Canon) has the SR kick in as soon as the camera is activated by the shutter half-press. In body stabilisation (as used by Pentax, Sony, Olympus) only kicks in at the moment of capture for a few miliseconds.

I doubt you'll ever hear the Pentax SR as any noise it does make would be masked by the sound of the mirror rising.
