K-m or K200D?

I have a K100D. Very happy with it but feel the urge for something newer. Don't see myself ever being up there with the majority of you guys on this forum, so I don't see the need for a K20D. I'm told the K-m is effectively a replacment for the K200D, but it strikes me that it's maybe been dumbed down too much? Since the K200D is still available, what do you guru's advise please, the K-m or the K200D?

The K200D would be a logical next step, with the same basic functions but a few useful bits added.

I think you add SR and you also move up to 10.2MP, both very useful.

I don't use the model, so someone who does may be able to add a little more detail.
Best regards, John

the k200 has more focus point then the km also it has a top lcd also it has better build quality and i dont think the km is weather sealed(could be wrong) the k200 goes from iso 100 to 1600 and the km 100 to 3200.
hope this helps and why not the need for a k20d:,
oh and k200 any day of the week,
just keep snapping,

Since the prices are similar, the only good reason to favour a K-m over a K200D would be for the smaller size and lower weight. It would be the most suitable model for travelling light.

Regarding the K20D, you don't have to be one of the best photographers to enjoy it, so treat yourself to one if you can afford it and wouldn't mind the relatively large size. The quality and features are wonderful.

I agree, remember once you get the K20 it should last you for years. Then upgrade to the K80D (?) with the fantastic collection of lenses that you will have amassed in the ensuing years.

That's a much greater benefit in my view than the number of focus points. No doubt some people make use of different focus points very successfully, but to me they are completely superfluous.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, and the advice. Got me thinking about the K20D now!! I can afford it; just wonder if it'll be wasted on me?:

A K20D would be wasted if you just want a "point and shoot".

One would not be wasted if you like a good viewfinder, lots of convenient controls features, and sometimes to crop images heavily (the 14.6 megapixels helps with that, as well as large prints).

I'm selling a little used 9 months old K200D with kit lens and a Pentax 18-250 lens and a lot of extras next week if you are interested.
