K-m battery life

I've noticed that my K-m although working fine, seems to be draining the batteries very quickly. I currently use rechargeable AA 2500ma batteries (Maplins and jessops brands)and ensure they've had a good charge before putting them in. However, I have not used my camera much lately between charges so was wondering do the batteries naturally discharge when left in the camera for extended periods of time or heaven forbid, is there something wron gwith my camera? Any advice is, as always, greatly appreciated.

Yes, batteries do discharge if they are not in use. And the higher the capacity the faster they drain.

Strange really, I use some cheap 2300 from a supermarket and they seem to hold charge fine in my K200.

Higher capacity ones I've tried seemed to drain, as you#re experiencing, for no reason. It could be a charger thing!

Is your charger rated for the size of battery you're charging?

Charger won't necessarily make *much* difference, unless it's a cheap one. If so, it may charge them according to voltage as opposed to delta peak and that's the easy way to ruin them fast.

2500s that are, say, 12months old and have been regularly used will probably have a headline 1700mAh and selfdischarge within two weeks.

Get some eneloops or hybrios.

Google or Amazon the names, you'll see product links. Essentially Low Self-Discharge NiMH-chemistry rechargeables. At least Eneloops have been tested and found to be excellent at keeping charge over long periods of time at room temperature.
