As with most products that are around you will mostly see the negative messages. People who use a device without problems are not as likely to post pessages on how great it is.

Totally off topic but I do so hate that saying.

I think I have changed my mind about the K7, as I said in another thread what I really want is a decent camera without video and that seems to be impossible these days as they all seem to have it, I don't want to change brands but the upgrade to the K20 what ever it will be will probably have it, so I will have to wait and see and as SRS don't seem to have any more that seems to tell me something

I am at a total loss here.
I can understand not buying a camera because it doesn't have something you want but not because it has something you don't want (and don't have to use) :

Isn't that supposed to be the most depressing time of the year?

I reckon you have taken out insurance against that.

Well Mike it's like this, I have 4 cameras with video which I don't use, to buy another camera with video is a no no for me, what I would like to see is a camera with more features I.E. ND filters, better ISO, more frames per second, faster AF, better AE, to pay for video that some people don't want is a waste of money, they could give you a better camera with better features without video but that seems to be the trend at the moment, so I am looking around to see what is on offer but it's not easy,
I'm still open to suggestions so what do you think ?

Jack.

Jack I agree with Mike here, why are you so against having the video capability? You don't have to use it and it doesn't affect the cameras capabilities in other areas.
You can almost guarantee that future releases of pretty much all D-SLRs will now have this as a standard feature. So if you are really against it your options will be pretty scarce for an upgrade.

TBH I don't think you will ever be able to get a new DSLR without video ever again jack so therefore you will have a long wait. I also don't think video adds any expense worth talking about to the price of a new camera now and it's here to stay. I probably wont use it but at the same time I have no problem with it being there and it wont stop me buying the camera of my choice because its on the body.

Edit: and I got beaten to it by Greytop while typing the message

Thanks lads I already know this but it would be nice to find something without video so I guess I will just have to put up with it, although I do still fancy a K7,

Jack.

The only SLR I can see coming out that is K20 spec or above NOT having video is the Leica S2, and that's in a slightly different price bracket!

Please don't take this the wrong way Jack, but by keeping with the "I ain't buying it cos it's got video' line is only stopping you from enjoying Pentax's best DSLR to date.
