Good price. I never did get to the bottom of why this was discontinued as It seems as though it would be a popular seller, especially for those looking for their first DSLR

I'm sure someone would tell me the D300 is an 'old' model and will be replaced soon but I found it very easy and responsive and gets the job doneIf you decide to change, Bodyheat, do it quickly. The D300 seems to have been dropped by Currys
Look no further than http://nikonrumors.com/ for a recent purported leak detailing Nikon's camera and lens releases for the next few years.
First up - around the turn of the month - is the "D300s" featuring HD video and an improved autofocus system.

It doesn't make it any less of a camera if they come out with a D300s. It would be like a K7 without video and a K7 with video. Unless of course the implication is that the price will drop like a stone for the D300, but they seem to hold their value just as much as a Pentax from what I can see. We can only judge by what is known and available in the market today, not what might come.

Classic pixel-peeper argument. They are all contradicting each other. And of course, the OP wasn't using the same settings on each camera.interesting,

It's a bit odd that so many if them appear to be making buying choices based on very dubious tests done by others whose skill level is totally unknown.
Best regards, John

totally agree george, what we need is some one on this forum that has both to do some testing with nr off and on to give a better idea, but if the k20 is anything to go buy the k7 should be better,

Glyn, as Chirpy says Simply Electronics are a Grey Importer, I have been bitten by them in the past so never again (showing stock that was not then coming up with excuse after excuse). My advice would be to steer well clear (as always IMHO)
I was too far down the pre-order list for SRS's first batch but they kindly let be cancel my pre-order and I have now ordered one from Park Cameras which should arrive on Monday Given the cost and complexity of the device I think its probably better get it from somewhere that looks after you if it goes wrong. Even if it does cost a little extra
Cheers,
Glyn
