Hi Patrick, I too had and have this problem. But I did a few simple adjustments and the output got better. However, slight pruning is always required. I adjusted the contrast, brightness and sharpness in the camera. I started using the vivid setting. One more important point to remember is never trust the camera screen. A number of pics, which I thought had not come out well, were fine on the pc/laptop screen. Hope this helps at least a little. Regards, Jeeess

A slight curves adjustment often adds a touch of "pop" to an image.

Your question realy needs more information including, for instance are you printing your photos yourself, getting them done at a lab or simply viewing on your monitor or even TV set.
How your images look will depend on lots of different factors, the quality of the light at the time you took them, the settings of your monitor or printer, the setting on the camera and of course what type of post processing you do (if any).
Get some samples posted and lets have a look, I wouldn't recomend changing any settings on the camera until the "problem" has been fully determined.

I believe that this "flatness" you speak of has always been a "feature" for Pentax DSLRs. I'm not sure how long ago, but I'm sure from the K10D at least.
You'd think of it as a drawback, but it actually is preferable considering there's much that you can do in post processing!
I second jeeess' recommendation, never trust the LCD screen. If need be, you can always go "vibrant" mode, and update the settings for saturation and contrast if you want popping JPEGS.

My K7 went through a flat image period. It took me ages to realise that I had somehow knocked the appearance control (right hand one of the 4-way selector) from 'natural' to 'muted'. I shoot RAW and the images looked somewhat washed out when viewd in ACDSee or Pentax Utility. Seemed to have to do a lot of adjustments. Lightroom seemed to overcompensate and oversaturate the image though!

I find that I have to PP most photos to add a bit of 'life' to them, mostly they look flat straight out of the camera.
I know there's probably a few settings I can change to fix this; can anyone tell me to save me having to go through the guide?
(I'll post up an example later)
